Chiropractic Better Than Medication for Back Pain
More than 75% of adults in the US suffer with back problems at some point in their life, and we see many patients in our Salem, OR clinic with this common condition. Sadly, many men and women don't know that chiropractic care is regarded as one of the very best and safest methods to treat back pain.
A 2004 study from Georgia examined 192 patients with low back pain lasting from 2 to 6 weeks. The subjects were divided into three groups: those who received a placebo and sham chiropractic adjustments, those who received a muscle relaxant and sham chiropractic adjustments, and those who received 7 real chiropractic adjustments over the duration of the research study.
At the completion of the one month study, the doctors discovered that the patients who got the real chiropractic adjustments experienced substantially more pain reduction and diminished severity of symptoms in comparison to the other test groups.
In addition, muscle relaxants have serious side effects that may include drowsiness, dry mouth, and many of them can even contribute to drug dependency.
Though a muscle relaxant drug might temporarily reduce symptoms, it isn't a long-term solution to back ache. In our office in Salem, OR, Dr. Bhasin works to get to the underlying cause for your suffering and uses safe chiropractic adjustments to resolve the problem in your spine to get you out of pain.
